The other day I was driving home and ended up behind a small Mazda Protege which happened to be a convertible with the top down. As we came to a stop light the small Mazda stopped abruptly almost half way out into the intersection. I drive a truck and from my vantage point I could see directly into the small vehicle in front of me. The driver, with her left hand, was doing something with her cell phone. The driver, with her right hand was doing something with her radio dials. She was also moving around a lot. Right when I thought her vehicle could not get any more busy- a small dog popped out of her lap and into the back seat. She was doing so much- all of which did not involve driving. The last thing on her mind was her primary purpose. When you get into a car your primary purpose is to drive- that's it. Not email, not text, not iphone, and not petting a dog- the primary purpose to to drive.
Many Christians always seem to be doing so much. Even when we are resting we are still emailing, texting, or facebooking. In our churches we are running, volunteering, teaching, etc,- we always seem to be so busy as Christians. Have you ever thought of what the primary purpose of being a Christian is? Could it be that in our busyness and pride we have forgotten about what our primary purpose is? The primary purpose of a Christian is to bring God glory. As Christians, sometimes, the last thing on our mind is our primary purpose. Sometimes as Christians we do so much, all of which do not involve bringing God glory. The primary purpose of a Christian is bringing God glory in all things. That's it.
Christian,
What's your primary purpose?
To God be the glory.
